If you constantly struggle with playing Texas Holdem poker, then perhaps it is time to play one of the many varieties of different poker games to find the right game for you.

Although Texas Holdem is one of the most popular forms of online poker, there are plenty of alternative versions out there. One such version is stud poker. This comes in two main forms; five card and seven card. There is also a high/low version of this game which is two games in one, the best hand wins as usual but also the lowest hand wins. Stud poker is played by dealing out an initial three cards followed by the remaining cards one at a time. Two or three of these cards are shown face up depending upon the version. This allows other players to see part of your hand allowing you to bluff, knowing that they have seen some of your cards or to work out if a potential hand that you have is possible with the remaining cards.

Another version of poker played online is five card draw. This is perhaps the original form of poker dating back much further than texas holdem. This version is played by dealing out five cards to all the players and then each player has the option to throw away any number of cards from their hand and have them replaced from the deck.

Five Card draw usually produces slightly lower hands than Texas Holdem and draws are extremely unlikely. Although this version is nowhere near as popular as others it is still played and if you master this version it can be extremely profitable, especially if you play against the players who just want to try it out to make a change.

Omaha is another popular version of poker. In this version you have four cards in your hand and five community cards are dealt out. To make up your hand you need to use two cards from your hand and three from the community cards. Due to the number of cards used straights are a lot more common and this is usually the minimum hand to bet with. Anything lower than this and you should bet with extreme caution.

The advantage of playing Omaha is that you can get the best possible hand on the table without having to wait around for a long time as you would do with Texas Holdem. For the less patient players this can be a better game to play.
