Secrets to beating Roulette

Its said that Francois Blanc, founder of the Monte Carlo, sold his soul to the Devil for the secrets to roulette. (Don't believe me? Just count all the numbers on a roulette table and you'll see that they add up to 666...).So for a quick short cut just call 1800 666 666. As for the rest of you, don't despair, there are more earthly ways to beat roulette.

Strategies to beat roulette fall into two general categories, progression betting systems or mechanical strategies.

Progression betting systems involve rules to help decide how much to increase or decrease your betting after a win or a loss. The most famous progression betting systems are the Martingale System and the Labouchere System. Most of the $2000 online roulette 'beat the casino' computer programs are actually some hybrid of more traditional progression betting systems.

Mechanical roulette strategies directly seek to exploit the physical flaws of the game. The two most successful methods have been the biased wheel attack and computer prediction.

Martingale System

The martingale system can be played both positively and negatively. In the positive version, the player doubles their bet following a loss. After a win, you begin again at the original bet size. The logic behind the martingale system is that you do not in fact need to win more than 50% of the time to make a profit. For example, if your original bet was $5 and you lost the first two and won the third. Then you would have lost $15 but won $20. So even though you only won 33% of the time, you still made a profit. In the reverse martingale system, the player doubles his bet after winning. If he loses then he begins again at the original bet size.

Labouchere System

The labouchere system, also known as the cancellation system, can also be played positively and negatively. The labouchere system uses numbers in a line to decide how much to bet following a win or a loss. In the positive labouchere system, the player adds the two outside numbers at the front and end of the line to work out the size of the next bet. So for example, if you were using 1 2 3 4 then the next bet would be 5 units (1 + 4). After a win you cross out the outside numbers and continue working on the smaller line. In the event of a loss, you add your previous bet to the end of the line. The labouchere system is more flexible than the martingale and allows for much player modification depending on their gambling style.

Biased Wheel Attack

The biased wheel attack, involves detecting and exploiting flawed roulette wheels. Roulette wheels are man made, man operated and subject to natural wear and tear. Subsequently they will naturally deviate from perfect outcomes. By taking statistical results from a wheel, we can check if numbers are deviating from 1 in 37 (European wheel). If we can find a wheel where a number is coming up more often than 1 in 35, then there is an exploitable potential to gain a positive edge over the casino.

There have been several famous biased wheel attacks. The most famous was Joseph Jaggers, who in 1873 made a biased wheel attack on the Monte Carlo casino. Before being forced to leave and banned from every casino in France, he accumulated over $325,000.00! An astronomical sum for 1873!!

Computer Prediction

It is not advised that you attempt this without solid knowledge of the latest technology. The logic behind this approach is that roulette outcomes are actually driven by the physics of little ivory ball spinning at a certain speed and a roulette wheel spinning in the opposite direction. If you can get an estimated on the speed of both the ball and the wheel plus the relative position of each, you can attempt to predict where the roulette ball will fall. Legally, since this is not actually interfering with the operation of the game, it is not considered legally cheating. Never the less, casinos have a policy of no cameras near the roulette table and further will enforce their right to deny patronage for whatever reason.

Conclusion

None of the above systems are actually easy. If they were, roulette would be a very unprofitable game and no casino would operate it. Rather, most roulette players will take a random approach and hope to get lucky. Even when they know a system or strategy, they will not have the patience to carefully think it out. This is an opportunity for you because it means the flawed game of roulette is still widely operated. Good Luck!
