In life, we live and work within the premise that hard work is the ultimate means of achieving success in life. People believe that when they work hard, they know that they will reap better results, more positive upshots, and a better, successful life.

However, in today's hustle and bustle of everyday living, many health experts are advising most people who are "workaholics" or those who work so hard not to burn their selves out. They contend that working hard is not really an ideal stepping-stone to success. In fact, studies show that working hard is not really an effective way in gaining the kind of achievement you want to obtain.

In reality, there are people who do not work that much but gain the best results. It's like reaping results without even ripping your heart and mind out. These people seemed to have that power that turns everything into gold.

On the other hand, there are people who continue to burn their selves out and yet they do not get the gratification and the achievement they wish to obtain.

So, the question now lies on why is working hard does not work when it comes to accomplishing something worthy of your time and effort?

The answer lies on the fact that working hard is not the key to success. In fact, many people contend that the old adage, "Work hard, play hard," must have been coined by a man who has the brawn and the body to endure stress and everything.

What matters most is the condition and the gratification that a person gets whenever he or she works. Working hard alone does not contribute to the success of an individual. To be successful, you need something more. It would be better to rephrase the once strict saying into, Have fun, work better, and play better!"

Enjoying what you do is the ultimate key to success. You have to love the work that you do in order to achieve the gratification and the happiness that you truly deserve.

Consequently, working hard will not give you that kind of gratification because you will always feel that you have to stretch your capacity in order to accommodate more work and, thus, making you feel you are nearing success.

So, for people who want to know more on the reasons why working so hard will simply not produce better results, here is a list of some basis why working hard is not good and ineffective.

1. The human body has a specific "optimum range" of working capacity

It is obvious that most people have a specific range of pressure that they can bear and accept, or even feel at ease with.

Hence, there are times wherein the person feels discontented whenever they get workload that is below the scale of their capacity to tolerate pressure. But, there are also instances wherein they burn out in the event that they have so many tasks that the pressure exceeds the normal capacity that they can tolerate.

So, if you work so hard, you will only end up bad-tempered and irritable simply because what you do is already beyond your capacity to manage work. What happens next is that you may even end up doing things the wrong way because your mind and body can no longer take the pressure.

2. Working so hard causes fatigue and stress

Call it fatigue, listlessness, tiredness, lethargy, or just plain feeling pooped, 7 million Americans visit their doctors each year seeking an answer for why they are dragging.

The reason for this is that they are already stressed-out. Most health experts say that stress is the number one cause of fatigue. Stress causes your body to go into fight-or-flight mode. When that occurs, you produce excess adrenaline and other hormones that make your heart beat faster and energize your body. As soon as that bursts is over, however, you slump into fatigue.

Being constantly stressed-out is like living with one foot on the break and the other on the accelerator, you are eventually going to strip your gears. Stress also triggers other physical responses that compound fatigue, including muscle tension.

3. The rich do not work for money, they have money work for them.

The problem with most people who are financially restrained is that they are motivated by fear and greed. They are afraid of running out of money to meet one's needs, and greed or desire to buy better things or enjoy life more. That is why they work day in and day out to earn more money only to meet their needs and wants.

On the other hand, the "rich" work, even for free sometimes, but aim to master how to handle and deal with money and not have money drive them crazy. They are more on the lookout for creative and fun ways to generate more money with the least effort required.

You see, the bottom line of this issue is that working hard is not the ultimate key to survival. What matters most is that you have fun, enjoy life, take everything easily, and work out things one by one.

Life is not a race. In order to be successful, you do not have to compete to win. You just have to be happy in everything that you do and you will just see that everything will fall into place as you want it to be.
