While many underestimate the catering industry and believe it has nothing to do with the culinary arts, in fact it is an industry closely connected to culinary arts and in fact a bit more difficult to handle than a standard restaurant industry. If you want to go into catering you will need to learn a lot about this kind of cooking, decide what kind of catering services you will offer, be very creative and organized. Surely it is a career for the open minded who like to meet new people and make contacts.

There are other culinary arts careers available. Some of them don't even involve cooking. You can become food sales representative for a food company or work in the development of new foods in an institute. You can invest in further education and become a dietitian. Some chefs move into the management of restaurants or resort and this way they are still connected with culinary arts but more involved into the bigger picture of managing the business.
