Peer pressure in today's society is overwhelming for children. They want to be like everyone else, not pushing themselves to explore, learn or excel. Children are more interested in being accepted by friends than being the best they can be, and shining in life.

Terri Khonsari, a single mother who raised a superstar child says, "I don't believe children are born superstars. I believe superstars are made, not born. Every child has the potential to become a superstar. Superstardom means being the best you can be and maximizing your potential in every area of life, not just the ones where you have natural gifts."

Terri was a single mom who came to the United States with little money, a failed marriage, and her daughter. She could barely speak English and had no friends to help her. Through determination and belief, she built a thriving career, and raised a superstar child who is poised to change the world. She believes that if she raised a superstar, everyone can.

She developed simple and easy tools that every parent can follow to raise a happy, healthy, successful, and well rounded child who will shine in different areas of life. Apply these principles immediately in your own life.

What Is a Superstar?

- A well-rounded person who shines in different areas of life, and chooses to do the best he/she can do.
- Happy, healthy, and fulfilled.
- Samples many different things and area of life.
- Enjoys the act of discovery.
- Lives life as an exciting whole.
- Engages in their career, sports, arts, music, and many other pursuits.
- Cares for the community and the world.
- Creates a balance between many different things that they do to keep mentally and emotionally fit.

The basic requirements for raising superstars is to give them love and teach them how to love themselves, love those around them, and how to love the world. We have to teach children to enjoy many different things in life, and enjoy giving their best in everything they do. This is the type of passion we need to see in their personality.

Start teaching children this passion as early as possible and remember it is never too late to give love, show passion, and allow children to taste life in every aspect. Teach them to enjoy the journey and enjoy everything that they do.

Being successful does not mean never failing. Superstars embrace the idea of failing. It is a learning process and will help in the future, and fuel success. Learning to overcome life's problems involves courage, risk taking, and never giving up. Teach your children to keep moving forward rather than doing what is comfortable to them. Train them not to take the easy road, but take the risks necessary. Teach them to be persistent and tenacious.

Instill leadership qualities in your children. Leadership does not mean giving orders and exercising authority. It is inspiring others to be their best. In order to teach your children to be leaders, be a leader yourself. We cannot expect our children to have the confidence to be leaders if we are following the crowd. Children watch what their parents do. If parents take steps to be leaders, then children will follow.

The next step is to surround your children with leaders. Send them to leadership camps to find the right role models. Direct them to become leaders, and help them become leaders. Encourage them and motivate them to not settle for less, setting high standards for themselves. Allow your children to choose their own goals, not yours or those from their friends.

Building confidence in your children will help them overcome the barriers and obstacles that will come their way in life. Confidence begins with:

- Accepting and believing in your children and teaching them to believe in themselves.
- Praise them, thank them, and appreciate them, making them feel like stars and that they have great talents.
- Never make fun of your children, and do not allow them to make fun of others. Be firm in that.
- Avoid undeserved praise.
- Teach children to give compliments to others.
- Teach them to be kind, humble, and strong.

Teach your children to be independent, letting them take care of themselves. Don't give them everything and don't baby them. Show your children you care by not doing everything for them. Let them learn, make their own mistakes and become independent people.

It is important to instill good, healthy and productive habits early in life when raising successful children: healthy eating habits, sports and exercise, respect and proper manners, books and reading, positive thinking, and using life's failures as lessons for success.

Follow this treasure chest of priceless information for raising your children to be well-rounded, independent and responsible. Your children can be superstars.
