Once the decision has been made to enter the arena of network marketing, there is broad range of products and companies from which to choose. Do your research and find a company that is respected and preferably has a global reach. This will ensure a wealth of potential customers.

It would also be wise to select a product that is not seasonal, regional and that a lot of people use. Good examples of products like this can be found in the health and beauty fields and also in supplemental heath products such as vitamins and dietary food products. Health and wellness products like these have become very popular and the businesses that offer them often quite lucrative.

After you have picked a specific line or collection of products to market, it is paramount to your success to "brand" this particular offer to your business name. What you want is that each time a customer thinks of one of these products, your name comes to mind. The best way to do this is to establish yourself as an expert in the particular field you are covering with your products. People want to purchase items from someone who knows what they are talking about. By positioning yourself as an expert in the field, you are putting yourself ahead of the competition.

Another important part of your sales strategy must be your belief in your own products. You also must appear to be of a service to your customers and not just there to sell something. The proper mindset for a business to have is one that they are providing a good and necessary service to their clients and not just taking their money. The main thrust of your business efforts need to be in customer service as opposed to sales. Customer service is what brings the buyers back again and again. Anyone can make a single sale, but return customers are what make a business succeed.

When you interact with customers, talk more of them than of you. They are not as interested in your business as they are what it can offer them. They may have a small interest in the history of your company and it's founder, but you will invariably find that most of their interest is in "what's in it for me?"

The small business owner and marketer must appear to offer a service that justifies their cost. Customers like to believe that they have received a lot more than they gave. So give it to them; in the form of service and benefits. For this reason, it is often beneficial to you, the business operator to open your relationship with new customers by talking about something other than your products. Lead with something other than your business and services.

A good place to start this is by offering your potential customers an enticement to visit your site. There are many things you may offer that will fit this bill. Here are a few examples to get your creative juices flowing:

1. A free giveaway. Give them a gift for simply signing up for your newsletter, emails or visiting your site. Examples of this might be a free report, consultation, ebook, CD or article. Execute this offer as an individual and not a company. Win their trust in you.
2. A marketing and sales system which utilizes online and offline tools such as websites, auto-responders, conference calls and sales letters.
3. A system which is duplicable for business growth such as the addition of business builders in the downlines. Don't only market your products, market your business a good opportunity for others to copy and prosper from as well.
