If all of the hype on television and out on the web is to be believed, all you have to do is set up a website and post a couple of banner ads and you can make a fortune in affiliate marketing. Trust me when I tell you that it just ain't so! Affiliate marketing is like any other business venture-before you can be a success you have to first learn the skills that you need to do the job right.

How can you learn the art of affiliate marketing? This is the question that often stops would-be affiliates in their tracks. Why? They don't know where to go to learn how to do the job, and as a result they throw in the towel before they've even gotten started. That's a shame, because there's an almost unlimited supply of resources out there to teach you how to be a great affiliate!

The first place most people are going to go when they're looking for information on marketing over the Internet is... can you guess?...Right! The Internet! That seems a little redundant, but the fact is you can learn just about anything on the Internet if you know where to look-and when it comes to affiliate marketing (only THE latest cyber-commerce trend to sweep the globe) the possibilities are endless.

Through the Internet you can learn the basic ins and outs of affiliate marketing:

1) How to choose the company you want to work with

2) The trick to setting up a successful marketing campaign

3) How to make viral marketing work for you

4) How to word your words so people will listen

5) The truth behind squeeze pages (and why you should just say no)

6) How to build a great mailing list (and how to find lead generators to cut the amount of time you spend building a great mailing list in half!)

7) Ways to promote your product or service without resorting to hype

That's not it by any means, but we'd be here all day if I went through the whole list! Suffice it to say that the Internet provides a vast wealth of resources to teach you how to be a success at affiliate marketing, and it doesn't cost you a thing!

If you're willing and able to sink a little money into the endeavor there are literally hundreds of books, tapes and videos out there with a tremendous amount of information for the beginning affiliate marketing professional. The cost on these can range from a couple of dollars to a couple hundred dollars, but most of them are well worth the investment.

Through books and videos you can learn how to handle just about any eventuality that's going to arise. There are plenty of marketers who would tell you that once you've learned the basics you really need to slog through the process yourself in order to learn. I say, Why? Why not take advantage of the knowledge that others have gained to steer clear of the mistakes all beginning marketers make and get on the fast track to success that much faster? (Needless to say, these aren't the marketers who are making millions of dollars a year!)

I have no doubt you're a savvy marketer, so I'll wrap up with this: You can never learn too much. It's impossible to learn so much about affiliate marketing that you can't do the job right, so take advantage of every resource available to you. You won't regret it!
