Promoting your web site is a daunting task. If you do it well, you will get a lot of visitors to your site and most likely make a lot of sales. Otherwise, you may experience a lot of frustration. Here are some useful tips to help you succeed with promoting your web site.

Get some experienced help. Find someone with a legitimate interest in your niche who already browses and posts on related forums regularly. Ask that person if he is willing to add an endorsement in his signature to your business. In exchange, you could give him weekly compensation or give him free access to your site or some resource you have.

Be creative. Make a number of creative and enticing non-commercial pages on your site. Submit these to social book marking sites. Spend the time to pick out the right tags, so that your pages actually get seen by a considerable amount of viewers. If this experiment is successful, a number of people will book mark your site, increasing its ranking on those sites.

Expose your newsletter. Consider advertising your newsletter through co-registration programs. These registration programs will add you as a box someone can check off when they are registering for a different newsletter. In many cases, you can purchase double opt-in leads for your newsletter for as little as 50 cents each using these programs.

Track your results. Use some type of tracking system for your website promotional activities. Preferably, you will want to find one that allows you to track visitors on multiple levels, not just on one. For instance, you will want to know who is coming to your site to begin with (and where they came from); and from there, you will want to know how long they stayed on the page and if they made the purchase.

Promote "off-line." Consider promoting your website in various print media outlets. For instance, you could consider purchasing classified advertisements in a number of different newspapers. You could test the response with smaller markets to see how effective your classified ads are. Once you develop an effective ad, you can use it in larger papers.

Use billboard advertising. Many billboards can be rented for as little as $800 per month, depending on the location. Consider using a billboard to improve your current marketing campaign and to drive additional traffic to your web site. You may find that this form of advertising is less saturated than advertising with websites and it may even end up creating more sales than Internet-based advertising.

If you consistently send customer support emails or emails to joint venture partners, it is best if include an opt-in page link in all of your emails. While the amount of traffic and sales you may get from this is minimal, you will still pick up additional sales that you otherwise never would have seen.

Avoid guaranteed traffic scams. In virtually all cases, these 100,000 hits for $25 deals chiefly entails moving untargeted visitors to your site who can't even read the dialect in which it is written. Rather than counting on one of these scams, it is a good idea to go with providers who have a proven history of positive results.

Start doing these things today or you may be disappointed with your results and profit.
