Listed below are some universal laws which have stood the test of time and have worked in favor of strengthening family ties:

The Law of Forgiveness: Forgiveness plays a very important role in any relationship. In order to continue a relationship on amicable and cordial terms, you have to learn to forgive sincerely. Until and unless, you dont forgive your spouse whole heartedly and continue to harbor feelings of anger, revenge and offense, you cannot claim to have forgiven him. Your relationship will only grow when you get rid of any negative feelings that you may have for your partner.

The Law of Empathy: Being empathetic towards your partner does not necessarily imply that you are required to agree with the views and opinions of your partner. Being two unique individuals, with two different mindsets, you have a right to form your opinion but at the same time you should learn to respect each others point of view and learn to live with the differences. Empathy is a unique skill that one develops over time with patience and only then can you see the world through the eyes of his partner.

The Law of Automatic: The worst thing that one can do in a relationship is to take that relationship for granted. It is the human tendency to automatically make assumptions about the fundamentals of marriage. Couples claim to know how to make their marriage work successfully. Although, many of us strive hard to attain success in other walks of life, but in marriage, hardly a few of us put in the required effort to make it run successfully. We expect to acquire success in marriage without even trying for it.

The Law of Resources: In any field or activity we try to make optimum utilization of resources in order to acquire success and the same stands true in the case of marriage also. Try to make the most of the resources available to you like reading books and articles on relevant issues, attending seminars, taking professional help, and seeking counseling from a marriage therapist. Take advantage of the current resources and you will be able to make the much required changes in your married life.

The Law of Coaching: Approaching relationship and life coaches for professional assistance can prove to be of great advantage for you and your spouse and can work wonders in your married life. A coach does not necessarily imply a professional marriage coach; the person can also be your close family friend, a mentor or any other couple for that matter. It has to be someone who understands you and you feel comfortable discussing your personal problems with. Such a person is good enough to play the role of a coach for you.

The Law of Conflict: Arguments, conflicts, disagreements, differences of opinions are an inevitable part of any relationship. They are all the more inevitable in relationships like marriage where two different people from different backgrounds unite. It is not the conflicts that are the problem, it is your attitude towards them and how you deal with them that eventually affects your marriage.
