My Top Three Activity Holidays Experiences

Winter has officially ended and summer is now creeping up, which begs the concern of what to do for your summer holiday. This is a time where most people start hitting the gym more often and work upon that sculpted beach body. Others, like me, prefer to organise a plan of action and prepare for a thrill seeking activity holiday.

For me winter is the time to enjoy a relaxing chilled out holiday, moving away from the cold rainy nights and trekking across the globe to a warmer climate. The summer periods, however, are for activity holidays that keep either your pulse racing or your mind stimulated. The idea of keeping fit whilst on holiday is much more appealing than having to worry about my cellulite showing in a bikini - however, I do not dismiss the fact that the summer period maybe the only time for people to enjoy a relaxing beach holiday.

Activity holidays can come in a variety of forms, with each of them being a time to explore, learn and participate in various exercises. These can be mountain biking, snowboarding, skiing, mountaineering, trekking, rock climbing, camel riding, snorkelling or even dog sledding. Whatever you decide to do or take part in, it is always worth preparing yourself for the upcoming adventure. The best way to do this is to research the most popular activities, the activities that best suit you and the most popular destinations.

Over the years, I have come with my own top three activity holidays to be experienced based on popularity and personal appeal. In my own opinion, I believe each person is entitled to experience their own type of activity holiday, whether it is Jeep safari exploration or bungee jumping in Australia, one would want to experience something to add excitement in their life at some point and live their life telling dynamic stories.

In third place, is skiing in the Alps. Whether you have been skiing in France, or had a go at dry slope skiing, this is the most popular of all family and group activity holidays in the UK. Many people prefer to go skiing in the winter and at the same enjoy a short break in a cosy ski chalet. Yet the thrill of skiing and following down the trail of the Alpine mountain, whilst enjoying the scenery has been something many enjoy taking part. The most popular destinations are France, Austria and Canada.

In second place is the famous African safari expedition. Watching the lions in the sub Saharan region, or taking a trek up to the mountain Gorilla is an experience of a lifetime - so says David Attenborough. Anyone visiting is in fact aiding the survival of these magnificent creatures. This is an adventure for people who want to enjoy a beautiful country, lush with greenery and wildlife, whilst experiencing a unique and different culture.

Finally, in first place of my top three adventure holidays is a country, which is home to the tallest mountain peaks and the most breathtaking views - Nepal. Elephant riding, mountain trekking and climbing are nothing short of excitement and exhilaration. People can travel alone, with family or in a large group. Activities involve trekking up the mountains amongst the friendly locals, or even witness bathing an elephant, or perhaps better still enjoy canoe riding at the Chitwan National Park.

The areas that you are likely to cover are Lukla and Namche Bazaar with promised views of the ice-capped Himalaya, Everest, Nuptse and Lhotse. This holiday will leave feeling refreshed and revitalised.
